Marina x Algernon

Marina O. I met her through Alpha Phi Omega unexpectedly. In fact, my first memory of her was sitting next to her on our first pledge meeting while she smiled & giggled at everyone in the room. While I was awkwardly silent and frigid as an ice block. Next you know, she became my roommate and one of my closest friends. We do such stupid things together; from making fun of her large cat, Blackie, to screaming songs from musicals in the kitchen. There has definitely not been a dull moment.

With Marina being a Math x Economics Major, she often leaves the apartment in professional dress to attend meetings, mixers, and work. I figured that this would be a solid outfit to dress her with that shows slight professionalism with a twist of a girly vibe & academia. To keep it more professional, just throw on a tank top underneath the sheer blouse and tie it all together with a fitted blazer, and you're good to go!

Nicole and I are dumb kittens. I was literally putting on the last finishing touches to my outfit when Nicole knocked on my door so we could go to our lecture. Quickly, I opened the door and stared her up and down.  We "opposite matched" completely. Beige sweater & beige skirt, black top & black skirt, brunette hair & blonde hair, and we had just about the same lip balm too. I guess this is what happens to the best of friends.

Unbelievably, I have done this with Connie too. But instead of counter-matching, Connie and I matched completely from head to toe. Let's just say, she tried to ignore the matter of fact as I gleefully pointed it out to everyone I knew in class. Poor Connie-kins that she has such an embarrassing friend as me.  

On the other hand, Nicole is welcoming to share the embarrassment with me!

Blazing hot afternoons are beginning to be replaced with crisp, cold air while the sunlight hours are shortening with every approaching day. Glasses of cold lemonade are being replaced with mugs of steamy coco. Summer is becoming a distant memory & fall is coming down in a gradual swoop.

With summer being jam packed with lighthearted melodies, I always associated fall with a slower tempo, moody lyrics, and an apathetic feeling of despair (cue the teen angst right here). The Exhaustion of a Blonde Rebellion

This week has been full of exhaustion from start to finish. I just wanted to wrap myself up into the covers of my bed and not face midterms this week at all. Instead I begrudgingly I put on my big girl pants and got down to business. Loads of flashcards and readings later, I finally finished this hellish week. I, of course, had the support of eating out with my friend, Joseph, at Chipotle, Panda Express, etc. Stocking up on these comfort foods managed to suppress the stress of the test. There is no explanation needed to express how a good burrito can get you through tedious workload.

To reward myself for my job well done, I did something drastic.

I dyed my hair blonde. 

With the help of one bucket of bleaching powder, mixing solution, a burning head, a single Friday afternoon, & my old roommate, Gabby, I am now officially enlisted in the Blonde Rebellion. I was getting really tired of having unintentional ombre locks and my same old brunette color after 5 -6 years. I figured this was the time in my life to experiment with whatever I'm into right now (ugly or not). And right now, these golden strands are in.

Music Playlist: September 16, 2013

The semester is definitely picking up with labs, quizzes, and exams all hitting me in the face like a bad joke. But in the midst of all the studying & cramming, I piled a few of my favorite songs into a playlist to keep me going strong into those long caffeinated nights..

Most of these songs, to me, are soothing and gets me super focused because of how repetitive some of the beats are, and the fact that some of the songs are in a language I can't even understand also helps. I mixed some slower songs with more upbeat tunes to create a diverse playlist that you can tune out (or jam out to) to whatever you are doing.

Nonetheless, go ahead and take a listen, and hopefully you find something you like.

Nicole J. was one of the first friends that I met when I started up university, and has been one of my best friends since then. We are probably one of the weirdest pairs that have struck campus. From our stupid antics in the dorms to pulling all-nighters together to passing out the next day, there hasn't been a dull moment. 

Although we are the best of friends, our styles are completely different. While mine is a bit whacky, costume-like & random,  hers is definitely more put together with earthy undertones and bohemian vibes, all mixed together with authentic street style. what a cool little kitten she is. But each of our styles compliment our personalities to a tee.

One thing we can both agree on at the moment is dark, burgundy lips. It ties together any outfit with sophistication and a vampy touch. Nicole wears it well along with her casual dress & in your face boots. The perfect mix.

Monster's University is Back in Session

I bought this monster crop top a few weeks ago, but didn't pull it out of my closet until today. I'm in love. With crop tops trending in pretty much every single girl's closet as of now, I wanted something different and with a little more of a punch. So I picked up this top from gojane.com, paired it with my circle skirt & creepers, and boom, an outfit that completely fits my personality.

As of lately... Romwe.com has been on point. I first discovered the online store via a youtuber and was only slightly impressed with the selection of items. In all honesty, I only went on that website to buy one or two dresses.

While procrastinating on work, I decided to check the site out again. It was a 180. I instantly fell in love with a good 50 items. Some of the items are remakes/knock offs of bigger designers. But who can really pay for a $1500 dress when you're middle class anyway? Not me.

So here is my extensive list of all the things that I'm lusting over at Romwe.
(By the way, I already bought the pink Rosette sweater. So guilty. So not ashamed.)
